Why we have bamboo in disposable diapers

Did you know that bamboo is one of the world's fastest growing plants?

That's why our diapers are nicer to the environment than the other diapers on the market. The result of our production and our Swedish design heritage, the diapers are as stylish as they are silky smooth. The diaper that gets cool in the summer and warming in the winter, but always retains the same amazing breathability. Another cool thing about our diapers is that they hardly bind any odor at all naturally. Bamboo absorbs and dissipates moisture up to four times more than, for example, cotton and fiber cloth. It is also antibacterial so that the risk of red rashes and urinary tract infections is reduced.

So there are many reasons why we love bamboo. Mainly because it is such a gentle material to make hygiene items from, but also because bamboo is considerate of its surroundings and we like that.

Because the plant grows so quickly, it shares soil and ground with other vegetation - it does not need dedicated arable land but can grow in both forest and hillside plantations. We like that. The bamboo plant also doesn't drink that much water and is not only a kind friend, it is also a real fighter as we parents of small children are.

It is so strong that it can resist pests all by itself, without any scary pesticides. And to grow, as I said, no artificial irrigation is required. Bamboo does well on nature's resources and thus grows completely organically. Bamboo also has the amazing ability to absorb CO2 from the air, making bamboo play a significant role when it comes to reducing the amount of greenhouse gases. It thus makes the planet a better place for our children.

Bamboo as carbon sink

Did you know that bamboo acts as a carbon sink through its ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during its growth phase? As bamboo grows, it takes in carbon dioxide from the air through photosynthesis, where it uses sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into energy and oxygen. Because bamboo grows quickly and has a high density, it sequesters a lot of carbon dioxide during its growth, which helps reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Our diapers bind approx. 480 grams of carbon dioxide/diaper, which is absolutely incredible if you ask us. A diaper that helps the climate instead of contributing to the greenhouse effect, that's cool.
