How to best dress your child in spring – layers are the key!

Spring is here and we've been waiting for it! But with it comes the challenge of dressing your children properly. In the morning there may be frost in the air, but in the middle of the day the sun can be really warm. So how do you keep your child warm all day long? The answer is the layering principle!

1. Base layer – what keeps you warm

The first layer is the most important to keep your child dry and warm on cold mornings. Choose:
Wool or wool blend: Transports moisture away and keeps you warm even if you get sweaty.
Thin cotton: An option for milder spring days, but keep in mind that cotton retains moisture.

2. Midlayer – regulates temperature

This layer acts as insulation and can be removed during the day. Good options are:
Fleece or thin wool sweater: Perfect for providing warmth without being too thick.
Lightweight down or thin softshell jacket: For the colder spring days. We love this one from Polaren & Pyret.

3. Outer layer – protects against wind and rain

Spring can be unpredictable with rain and wind. Choose:
Shell jacket and shell pants: Breathable and protects against wind and moisture.
Rainwear for really wet days. Check these out from Kuling.
Thin hat and mittens in the morning: Easy to take off when the sun warms.

4. Smart tips for spring clothes

🌞 Shell garments instead of winter overalls – more flexible and works all day.
🌞 Layer upon layer – easy to take off or put on as needed.
🌞 Extra clothes in your preschool bag – a thin sweater or shell pants are always good to have!

Dressing your kids right in spring is all about being prepared. By using the layering principle, you can easily adjust your clothes to the day's temperatures – and let your kids play outside in all weathers!

💚 At Bammies we love making it easier for parents of young children – that's why we always recommend the best for the little ones. Don't forget to pack an extra change of clothes and a cozy hat in the stroller!
