Let's start where others usually stop: no disposable diaper on the market is completely plastic-free or completely without environmental impact, ours included. What we can do is push down the impact at every step, and be open about what remains.
What we do
- Significantly less plastic, in both the diaper and the packaging, replaced with bamboo and plant-based materials
- Fast-growing bamboo, grown without artificial irrigation or pesticides
- FSC-certified cellulose core, responsible forestry, verified throughout the chain
- TCF bleaching and no rayon, no chlorine chemicals, no enzyme-produced fibers
What we don't say
We don't call our diapers plastic-free, because they aren't. We don't call them organic without a certification that covers the whole claim, and we don't carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel; our proof is called FSC, OEKO-TEX and Dermatest®. Environmental claims should stand up to scrutiny, otherwise they're just decoration.
What happens after the diaper?
In Sweden, diapers cannot be composted; all disposable diapers go to incineration. So here's how we see it: if the diaper is going to be incinerated anyway, it is always better to incinerate sustainably produced biomass than fossil-based plastic. Every gram of plastic we've replaced with bamboo and cellulose makes a real difference, 2,500 times per child per year.
Many find us for the environment's sake, and stay for their baby's skin. Try for yourself with a trial kit or read more in the size guide to find out where to start.
