Good autumn activities with children

Autumn is a magical time of year, filled with colorful leaves, crisp air and cozy family moments. For parents with young children, it can be challenging to find fun and engaging activities as the temperature drops and the days get shorter. That's why we at Bammies have collected our best tips for autumn activities that are suitable for both young and old, and which are guaranteed to create wonderful memories!

1. Go leaf hunting

A classic autumn activity that never goes out of date is leaf hunting. Wrap the children in warm clothes and go for a walk in the park or forest. Let the children collect leaves of different colors and shapes. When you get home, you can use the leaves for crafts, such as making leaf paintings or a colorful leaf crown. A perfect activity to combine fresh air with creative creation!

2. Bake autumn-inspired treats

Another favorite with us at Bammies is baking together. Autumn offers fantastic produce such as apples, cinnamon and pumpkin. Why not bake apple pie or pumpkin muffins with the kids? Let them help measure ingredients, mix the batter and decorate the treats. Not only is it a fun way to spend time together, it also teaches children important skills and patience.

3. Visit a farm or a fall market

Fall is the perfect time to visit a farm or a local fall market. Many farms offer family activities such as pumpkin picking, pony rides and horse-drawn carriage rides. This is an excellent opportunity for children to learn more about animals and nature, while you have a wonderful excursion together.

4. Build an obstacle course in the garden

If you want to stay at home but still activate the children, you can easily build an obstacle course in the garden or park. Use piles of leaves, branches and other natural materials to create fun challenges. The children can jump, crawl and balance - all while they get to run away and use their imaginations.

5. Cozy movie nights

When darkness falls earlier and the cold creeps closer, there are few things that beat a cozy movie night. Pick out some family-friendly movies, curl up under a blanket, and enjoy some quality time indoors. To make it extra special, you can also pop popcorn and prepare a lovely fruit tray.

6. Plant autumn flowers or plant spring bulbs

Fall is the perfect time to plant spring bulbs, and getting the kids involved in gardening is both educational and fun. Let them pick out their favorite bulbs, such as tulips or daffodils, and show them how to plant them. Planting together gives children a chance to learn about nature's cycles and something to look forward to when spring comes.

7. Explore nature by creating a fall scavenger hunt

Create a treasure hunt for the children where they can look for autumn treasures, such as acorns, chestnuts, beautiful leaves and small cones. You can make a list of what they should find and give out small prizes for each thing they find. A simple activity that is guaranteed to make the kids love autumn as much as we do!
